Dundee Museum of Transport is involved in the preservation and collection of historical and vintage vehicles to advance and promote heritage and education of the general public. To provide training in vehicle restoration, and organise meetings and lectures on a wide range of transport and vehicle subjects.
They have 2 new volunteering opportunities.
Admin Assistant
We would like a motivated and positive individual to undertake general admin tasks such as filing, photocopying, data entry, answering the phone and to pass on telephone messages. You’ll develop skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint. We’re keen for volunteers who work well independently, use initiative, pay attention to detail and are confident on the phone. The post is 5 hours per week on a Monday or a Friday from 10am – 3pm.
No previous skills or experience required however this is a customer facing role that would suit an outgoing and well-organised individual who can work well on their own. An interest in the heritage or transport sector would be advantageous however it is not a requirement. Induction covers tour of museum, health and safety guidelines and the requirements of the role. Annual one-to-one with Museum Manager or as requested. Twice annual volunteer team meetings and monthly volunteer meetings where issues can be reported.
Visitor Services – Keyholder & Cash Handling
Visitor Services Assistants look after all aspects of the visitor experience from greeting visitors, ticketing, serving refreshments and explaining the exhibits. Providing excellent customer service, our Visitor Services Assistants are the face of the museum and ensure that visitor queries and needs are met. Additional duties include, carrying out regular hall and facility checks, keeping visitor areas and the front desk clean and tidy and reporting any issues to the Museum Manager or Vice-Chairman. For our up-coming season we are keen to recruit a keyholder who would be willing to take on the responsibility of opening and closing the museum and end of day banking.
