Peer Recovery Worker

 £16,443 per annum

35 hours per week

Volunteer Dundee is looking for driven individuals who have lived experience of substance misuse to work as part of a team to support the Peer Recovery Network in Dundee. You should have been in continuous recovery for two years.  The post is funded by Dundee Alcohol and Drug Partnership and will be fixed term until 31 March 2021.

The Peer Workers will be expected to work as part of a team to help deliver support for people in recovery from substance use as part of a wider team. Peer workers will be employed by Volunteer Dundee, undertake placements with a number of substance organisations in Dundee and will also have the opportunity to work with other partner agencies.

These are developmental roles and support and training will be given to the successful applicants.

As a Peer Worker you will be expected to provide support to people in all stages of recovery. Peer Workers are expected to support people to access a range of community activities that can support recovery. The role will also involve working with Peer Recovery Volunteers.

Peer Workers will also be expected to maintain their own recovery strategies while in post and be responsible for furthering their future employment opportunities. There will also be a mandatory requirement of appointment that Peer Workers have already obtained or will study towards a vocational qualification (SVQ 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent) in their own time. If applicants have already attained SVQ at a similar level and wish to advance academically/vocational this will also be supported within the role. The post will be subject to a PVG check.  Applicants should note that having a previous conviction will not preclude you from being appointed to the role. Convictions will be assessed on an individual basis through honest and frank discussion with the applicants.
