Girls Football Coach Zoe Moreland is another one of this year’s Saltire Summit Award recipients. In Zoe’s final year at Grove Academy she relaunched, and became the coach of the school’s Girls Football team. In September 2018, Zoe organised Grove’s first ever girls football trial for S1-S3 pupils. Over 50 females took part and a squad of 18 girls was selected by Zoe to represent the school. Once the squad was selected, Zoe delivered them weekly training sessions which helped them take part in the Scottish Cup, Active Schools tournaments and win the Tayside SSFA Secondary Sevens Tournament. Zoe also made a considerable impact on the school and pupils by running additional training after school on a Friday which was open to all girls regardless of their ability.

Zoe does not only exceed through her coaching role, but also as a mentor. She has created a nurturing and positive environment for each member of the club, shares her experience of the game and has built relationships with all of the players. This has shaped many of the girls’ confidence levels and allowed her to become a positive role model.

Well done on your Saltire Summit Award Zoe!
