You may have seen footballers and pundits on television wearing a badge on their jacket lapels in the shape of a man like the one to the right. It’s because they are supporting the Prostate Cancer Campaign. Around 1 in 8 men in the UK will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives. More than 3,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in Scotland.

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

You can help with this. The charity are looking for Information Stand volunteers  to supervise  information stands, held in railway stations, supermarkets and events across Dundee. You will represent Prostate Cancer UK and hand out award-winning leaflets, promote the specialist nurse helpline, sell the  Man of Men badges and collect donations. To do this role, you do not have to be personally affected by prostate cancer but be ‘people focused’. You will also have the opportunity to join a permanent volunteer hub!

The information stands will be located across Tayside, you will receive training for the role and any volunteer travel expenses will be reimbursed. The minimum age for volunteers is 16.
