Dundee Women’s Aid offer emotional and practical support and/or safe refuge to women, young people and children experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse. They have 4 new volunteering opportunities. Closing Date is 9am on 26th February 2018

Campaigner

Do you want to make a difference by helping us to raise awareness of the services we provide and the impact of domestic abuse on women, children, and young people? This is a brilliant time to get involved as we expand our volunteer programme.

This role will involve: – Working with others to think of interesting and creative ways to raise awareness of domestic abuse and of Dundee Women’s Aid; Work with others to come up with fundraising ideas; Be part of activities that help us to raise our profile and to raise funds; Encourage others to join Dundee Women’s Aid, volunteer with us, or to share our promotional and awareness-raising information on social media; and Organise events with others to run in the local community.

Homework Club Helper

With this role you will meet up with children and young people on a regular basis (usually once per week during term-time); Providing support, if required, to children and young people with homework and school-related tasks; Travel within Dundee to undertake volunteering; Complete paperwork in relation to this role; and Keep in contact and meet up with the volunteer coordinator including regular supervision sessions (every 6-8 weeks).

Refuge Support

Do you want to make a difference by volunteering to help us to run our refuges? This role will involve: Shopping for items to refurbish our refuges; Organising and managing stock; Sorting donations of food and clothing and helping to create starter packs; Ensuring at all times, the maintenance of DWA’s confidentiality policy; Volunteering within the facilities team to sort and deliver food packs to be delivered to refuge accommodation; Be able to drive and provide own vehicle (insured for business purposes) as this opportunity will involve delivering packs to various locations throughout Dundee; Meet up with the volunteer coordinator including regular support sessions every 6-8 weeks.

Support Line Call Handler

Providing 1:1 telephone support, including emotional support, information and advice to women calling the support line; Signposting women to other agencies if necessary or appropriate; Booking initial appointments with the Women’s Support team; Processing referrals; Responding to support emails; Liaising with external agencies and internally with the WSS team; Completing paperwork in relation to this role; Meeting up with the volunteer coordinator including regular support sessions (every 6-8 weeks)
