Ryan Boyd was first approached by Mark MacDonald (Community Learning & Development Youth Worker) to volunteer at a football drop in at Strathmartine Active Youth. He was once a service user of the drop-in service, but his involvement in the sessions saw him eventually helping to run the football! His role involves setting up for games, working with staff and volunteers, organising participants based on abilities, being a mentor, refereeing and motivating players.

When asked about the difference Ryan makes through his volunteering, he mentions that he hopes to make other young people living in Strathmartine feel better about their area. By giving them somewhere safe to go and play football, he feels this encourages them to make friends, learn about teamwork and take part in exercise. As a result around 20-35 young people come to each session on Monday and Wednesday evenings!

Thank you for all of your hard-work Ryan!
