The PSYV programme aims to strengthen the relationship with the police and young people, breaking down barriers and promoting positive role models while promoting a practical way for young people to get involved in their communities through volunteering and to promote good citizenship. Our aim to inspire individuals to participate positively within their communities. Each PSYV group is coordinated by a police officer who is supported by a team of adult volunteers who come from all walks of life and bring their own skills and flare to each group.
Each group meets for 1 evening session a week where the adult volunteers deliver a session of drill, team building games and lessons on everything from counter terrorism to sexual health. There are a variety of roles which an adult volunteer can carry out including tuck-shop, paperwork, event planning, delivering lessons and coming up with fun and exciting games and activities. The most important role an adult has is building relationships with young people. You will receive training for PSYV at a training course at the Scottish Police College.
