Help at Home
The Help at Home service supports people in Dundee who are over 55 years of age who are returning home from hospital or at risk of a hospital admission and require support to enable them to build confidence and independence in certain aspects of their lives.
Volunteers will support individuals who have been referred to the Help at Home service with a range of tasks which may be home-based or supporting them to access activities in the community, for example:
– Assisting someone with their weekly food shop.
– Help attend classes and appointments.
– Help collect prescriptions and pensions.
– Light housework.
The support will allow the individual to build in confidence and independence. It may also help to build connections and friendships. Volunteering will only be for a couple of hours each week, for a maximum of eight – ten weeks, as the service user becomes more independent. A Driving Licence and access to own vehicle is NOT required.
