Volunteer Dundee are delighted to announce that nominations are open for the Volunteer Awards 2019.
The city’s hardest working volunteers are to be recognised at the annual ceremony held by the charity during Volunteers Week (1st to 7th June). Nominations for the Awards are invited from organisations, community groups, friends and family as well as other volunteers.
Eric Knox the CEO states “Volunteers make a real difference to peoples lives in Dundee. These awards give us the opportunity for the city to celebrate the people who give their time to help other and make Dundee a richer place to live.”
There are six categories which nominations can be made under. These are; Volunteer of the Year, Trustee/Board Member, Volunteer Team of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Volunteer Manager/Co-ordinator of the Year and the Kathryn Mackenzie Make a Difference Award. One in five adults in Dundee volunteer not only help others facing difficulty or hardship but also act as a force for change. The Awards recognise and celebrate their hard work and dedication and are sponsored by both local businesses and non profit organisations.
Last year’s winners included Finmill Community Council chair Ron Neave who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the local area; Ninewells Community Garden was named Volunteer Team of the Year; and Tammie Brown of community group Link Up Whitfield won the Kathryn Mackenzie Make A Difference Award. Tammie’s volunteering has not only been an asset to Link Up, but also herself, improving personal confidence. She assures “My self confidence has really improved. My self esteem too. I have a much better view of myself and what I am able to do.”
Deadline for submitting nominations is 1st April. The Awards will be on Thursday 6th June
