Royal Voluntary Service, Dundee City are pleased to announce the launch of a bespoke Dundee City exercise DVD, in conjunction with Helping Older People Engage (HOPE) and RVS Partners, Move It or Lose It (MIolI), developed an exercise programme suitable for older people, especially if you have been shielding, with the addition of some wonderful photographs of old Dundee for you to reminisce over with friends, family and Royal Voluntary Service Volunteers.
Our well trained volunteers are available to support you at home, working through the exercises at your leisure, followed by a cuppa and a blether watching the pictures of old Dundee which we are sure will spark some memories of how Dundee used to be.
During lockdown, RVS Dundee have continued to provide services to the elderly of Dundee albeit, not in the traditional sense. Like many other charities and services we have had to innovate and diversify to ensure we could continue to help our elderly clients and, in some cases, our volunteers.
So what have we been doing since the lockdown in late March? We are pleased to advise that we have supported over 500 individuals, telephoned in access of 200 ‘Safe and Well Checks’, 50 plus ‘Assisted Shopping’ trips and delivered 80 ‘Help Packs’ to elderly, vulnerable people in and around Dundee with essential food items to sustain them until they could access their money or benefits.
Our sincere thanks must go to our dedicated volunteers who have stepped up to the plate to help others during this difficult time.
Can you help us help others? We will be delighted to hear from you.
