Our Peer Recovery Network team are here to support you
The Peer Recovery Network work across the city to support individuals in recovery through weekly drops in run by volunteers and Peer workers.
We work in partnership with local communities and partners to identify and recruit volunteers with their own direct or indirect experiences of drugs and alcohol problems to support the development and facilitation of recovery activities across Dundee.
All volunteers will have the opportunity to take up external training as well as in-house training to enhance their skills and develop both personally and professionally so that they can progress forward to education or employment.
We use a person-centred approach that enables individuals to make informed choices. Through recruiting volunteers with lived experience and in recovery themselves, we give them opportunities to change their community, and to engage and set up recovery groups, this in turn will increase their self confidence and health and wellbeing, which will cascade to others attending the group. Overall, we aim to empower others to focus on recovery, build on relationships within the community through awareness raising, and make their community a much better place to live in.
Knowledge can go a long way. Through volunteers with lived experience supporting others, it provides a more positive holistic way forward for others who may not engage with service. The Drop ins and the volunteers themselves may be the first step to recovery for some people
