A team of six young volunteers from Taught By Muhammad are one of this year’s Youth Volunteering Team of the Year finalists at the upcoming awards ceremony. This team aims to help the needy and socially isolated, whilst tackling social injustices within the city – through volunteering in the charity’s cafes and foodbank. In doing this they have had a positive impact on everyone who has walked through the support cafe doors – last year they were part of the legacy in serving 9460 people. Furthermore, their involvement in the foodbank last year allowed 2856 households receive emergency food parcels.
The team’s typical role involves setting up and prepping free meals for the cafés, as well as volunteering with the foodbank – however they make a massive difference through their kind nature. They regularly chat to service users, provide friendship and company, and are known to provide activities for children during the school holidays. As a result, they are instrumental in making a positive difference to the city, local communities, families and individuals.
We would like to say a big well done to the team from Taught By Muhammad for all of their hard work, and wish them the best of luck as a finalist!
